¡°The Generic Connectionless Network Information Model¡±, which is jointly drafted by Metarnet and Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, was officially adopted by ITU-SG4 as ITU-T Recommendation and assigned index NO. M.3160 on Nov. 2008. This is the 11th ITU-T standard from Metarnet after M.3208.3, M.3108.3, X.781, M.3017, Q.827.1, M.3031, Q.838.1, M.3342, O.220 and E.412.1standards.
The ITU-T M.3160 standard is composed of general entity management information model, connection-oriented network management information model and connectionless network management information model, which have nothing to do with implementation technology and network technology. It is a foundational standard in the area of telecommunications network management, in which the generic connectionless network management information model could play a role of regulations and guidelines to network information modeling of connectionless network, such as Ethernet and IP network, which previously not covered by ITU-T standards.
